Classical with a Twist

This intimate 18th-century theatre combines an informal atmosphere with a truly
theatrical flourish, and we have a programme to match. Our talented visiting
instrumentalists will entertain us with chamber music spanning three centuries: a
youthful string sextet by Brahms from the 19th contrasts with two duo sonatas – for strings from the 18th century and wind from the 20th. Members of the Festival’s professional chamber choir will then let their hair down in close harmony. A delicious supper is included and the bar is open throughout the evening.

Johannes Brahms String Sextet No. 1 in B flat major, Op. 18
Francis Poulenc Sonata for Clarinet and Bassoon, Op. 32
Jean-Baptiste Barrière Sonata in G major (No. 4) for two cellos
A selection of close harmony arrangements
