Haydn’s Seven Last Words is a series of meditations on the sentences uttered by Jesus in his final hours. The work exists in various forms, including a version for large-scale orchestra and chorus. Tonight, in the intensity of a darkened Minster, the Festival Soloists present this deeply moving work in the arrangement for string quartet, accompanied by readings. An intimate exploration of pain, humility and the hope of redemption.
