James MacMillan Seinte Mari Moder Milde
Thomas Adès The Fayrfax Carol, Gefriolsae Me
Benjamin Britten Sacred and Profane: Eight Medieval Lyrics, Op.91

For this sequence of choral music, poetry and prose, Old English and Anglo-Saxon texts provide the inspiration for late 20th century choral works by three leading British composers – including a seldom-performed work by Britten from a year before his death. The Minster’s atmospheric mediaeval surroundings contribute to the intensity of the occasion.
