BBC Radio 3’s In Tune today hosts three of Southwell Music Festival’s leading musicians performing live and talking about their involvement in the Festival (25-29 August). They will be taking part around 6pm.
The artists appearing are Associate Artistic Director, Jamie Campbell (violin), David Butt Philip (tenor) and Libby Burgess (piano).
Jamie and Libby are appearing at the Festival for the third time. David is making his first Festival appearance to take on the demanding title role in Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.
Jamie and Libby will perform a little known Romance by Clara Schumann while David will sing Britten’s Sonetto XXIV “Spirto ben nato” from Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo Op 22 and one of the great solo moments from Gerontius – “Sanctus fortis” with Libby at the piano.
Tickets for the Festival are still available for most performances. They can be obtained online via www.southwellmusicfestival.com/onlinebooking , by calling 0115 989 5555 or by visiting the Southwell Cathedral Shop.
