Music and poetry celebrating the joy of Christmas
Southwell Music Festival returns this festive season with two concerts for all to enjoy, both taking place on Saturday 12 December.
In the morning, the Festival’s Emerging Artists vocal quartet will perform Relaxed Christmas Carols at Southwell Library in this welcoming, inclusive musical experience.
The quartet will perform uplifting Christmas classics alongside popular audience carols in a performance designed for those who benefit from a more relaxed setting, including families with young children, individuals with sensory or communication needs, learning disabilities, dementia, or who are neurodiverse. This is a pay-what-you-can event; please book in advance.
A Christmas Celebration
In the evening, escape the festive hustle and bustle as the superb Festival Voices join director Marcus Farnsworth and narrator Carla Mendonça for A Christmas Celebration – a seasonal programme designed for the atmospheric setting of Southwell Minster, where medieval carols sit alongside well-known works by Benjamin Britten, Michael Tippett, and popular contemporary voices such as Eric Whitacre and Cecilia McDowall.
Sit back and enjoy a blend of contemporary and traditional works, each reflecting on the universal themes of hope and peace. This is a popular event – early booking is recommended!
